Sweet Links

I've got a little cold plus a shoulder injury, so I apologize for being a bit missing around here lately. Also the heat wave? Oh my gosh. I'm not a fan! But I wanted to put together a little Sweet Links post for you because I miss doing those round-ups of things I've seen here & there and liked a lot.

This post from Design*Sponge is from before my birthday, but I keep coming back to it mentally and online. It is so visually stunning. I love the photographs of all the heirloom tomatoes, especially this one.

Next up is this positively gorgeous wooden bike shelf from Knife and Saw.

I really enjoyed this video interview with Amy Butler, her garden is amazing & she is seems so calm and mellow.

I loved this tutorial from Pugly Pixel. Katrina is sooo good at explaining things.

I used it just this morning to make that little button over there that says About Jess, which leads to my about page. I didn't think of adding the tails, I got so excited by the scallop-edged circle. I love scalloped edges on things.

How about we end with this Ooey Gooey Caramel Apple Blackout Cake?

This vegan! recipe comes from the new-to-me blog Desserts for Breakfast. Definitely sweet plus amazing food photography. :)

I hope you enjoy these Sweet Links as much as I did/do!

Sweet Links

It may have taken me all day long to gather these but I do think these are some sweet, spring-time links.

I am loving this Abici bike and excited to feel better soon and take my own cruiser out for a spin (via Holiday Matinee).

Big Sur is extra beautiful through the lens of Ryan Tatar. I really want Polaroid transfers to be in my future somehow.

I can't get this darling post about vintage Fisher Price toys out of my mind (via Modern Kiddo).

Yesterday, HulaSeventy went and tweeted about these concept cameras. Now I'm obsessed with them but they don't really exist. Sigh. But I just had to share the love with you. ;)

I can't get this catchy Train song out of my head, hopefully I am not the only one. "The way you walk ain't fair you know!"

What about this amazing macro photograph of a clementine? Does everyone drop everything to stare at it and then go prowling on BorrowLenses for macro lenses or is that just me? (via scoutie girl)

I'll wrap up this edition of Sweet Links with this truly amazing and inspiring entry to Blog It Forward. This is CreateGirl's Great Aunt Mary and what a great woman! Please take a few moments to read about this trail-blazing Sicilian! She was light years ahead of her time and lived to an amazing 107!

What sweet links have you found lately -- any great recipes, tutorials, art, music, photograhy? Please share them with me in the comments.

P.S. I'm truly honored to be seen in two sweet places today: on Simply Hue and as part of Scoutie Girl's cherry blossom festival. Thanks for having me on your inspiring blogs today!

Sweet Links

On Wednesdays, I love to share a few links with you all that have caught my eye because it's a nice little diversion to get us through the middle of the week. Not that I advocate living only for the weekend, no way! We have to enjoy some part of each and every day (no pressure to enjoy every minute, I'm also realistic).

Right off the bat are these Vintage Camera photo blocks from Susannah Tucker, which went immediately into my Etsy favorites. Gotta thank Holly for another fab find!

Another instant fave, photographs like a perfect sonnet transport me right into a daydream about a life in which I am a vagabond musician who lives for applause and dollar bills in my weathered guitar case, where I stay up till 3 am writing new songs or going to my musical friend's gigs in seedy bars, I eat a lot of top ramen, sleep late, wear one of my thirteen pairs of Levis every day and it's possible that I smoke cigarettes. I'm not sure I go that far in my daydream, but maybe I do, since this is not me, not at all, because first of all I am a girl who likes fresh organic produce and who only owns two pairs of jeans.

Speaking of fresh produce, I made Erin's Pan-Roasted Cauliflower last week and it. was. divine. I didn't have pine nuts or chives on hand, but it was still fabulous. It will just be extra amazing if you have those two items. Also, today is the deadline to Say No to GMO Alfalfa.

This photo gesundheit! made me chuckle. I saw it in the sneeze-free Trees in Flower Flickr pool which is a great way to escape for an afternoon walk if you are indoors at the moment.

I think I'll end with this darling felted lovey that came to me via a tweet by Elena. People never cease to amaze me with their hand work! I'm dedicating the last two images/links to March, which brings us spring at long last.

P.S. My Red Longboard photo was featured along with the amazing Ryan Tatar over at Pineapple Luv this week, so that is definitely a very sweet link to check out.

Sweet Links

Oh goodie, it's time for another round of Sweet Links. There have been so many things making me happy online recently! I am often attracted to that which reminds me to be playful, imaginative, creative and connected with others and this collection really fits the bill.

Get in the mood with me by visiting the Let's Play Pretend set that I found via dujour magazine.

Are you feeling a little more playful? Good! Now you can download this darling free font (via scoutigirl on Twitter) by Ripe Type and make your computer happy too.

Now I have a couple of  blogs to share. The first one is Ez's new personal blog, Carrying On which is a refreshingly honest glimpse into her life. You know Ez from her popular design blog Creature Comforts. The second one belongs to artist Stephanie Corfee who just launched a brand new site. To celebrate, she is having a great sale in her shop until this Friday, 2/26. I love her tagline too: vibrant, bohemian and intricate art.

Okay now here is something that excites me a little too much probably: Scout Books which I learned about from sfgirlbybay. Oh my the possibilities are endless, I love the interior page choices and gosh look at the boundless creativity in their gallery. These puppies come from...guess...Portland...and are printed on 100% recycled paper with soy inks. They are totally rad! (See, when I get too hyper I revert to my native 80s slang mode).

I'm not sure how much time you have today, but my friend Elaine shared this book with me and if you haven't heard of them, you should just clear your calendar for a bit. The goal of their book is "to give people the push to invest in themselves, do what they love and inspire as many awesome people as possible." I mean, you can get lost for quite awhile in their blog and Twitter stream.

Okay I'm getting close to the end. I am just bursting this week, I tell you! I fell head over heels in love with the simplicity of this photo.

And before you go, I want to send you off with the always wonderful, always soothing, always inspiring Jack Johnson. As Jamie said on Facebook (where I saw this), stick it out to the end. And I promise, the end is where it's at: the humanity, the beauty, the connectedness. It made me cry, the very best kind of tears.

Okay, I'm super curious now: which of these links is the sweetest? :)

Sweet Links

It's time for another round of Sweet Links. There has been too much goodness around lately. Also, it is a mighty fine distraction from the evil germs that invaded my body last night rather unexpectedly.

Lisa Congdon's new piece at 20x200, Lovebirds.
Hello, cheerful colors!

The Heated dishtowel in orange clementine or red raspberry.
Hello, darling!

Hello, dreamy illustratration skills!

P Magazine, free cd issue with every order at Polapremium.
Hello, amazing Polaroid photography!

Speaking of Polaroid, my 100 Photos project has temporarily fainted since I ran out of film after Jackson's portrait session. I called around to the local places I have found it so far in my Polaroid career, but I've had zero luck. So I guess I am about to place my first order online! I can't wait to revive my project. Luckily lots of people have joined Toni's project so check out her growing blog roll until I come back with No. 5.

Sweet Links

I had a lot of fun last week putting together a post full of link love, so I am going to do it again. Here are even more things I have enjoyed in my web travels recently.

How about this wonderfully precarious stack of bed pillows from the Tine K Home catalog? I wish! My darling does not understand decorative pillows on the bed at all. So I will stare at this picture instead (via Catalina).

I loved this compilation of vintage posters. It's hard to choose one to highlight but these adorable circles with sweet typography and French phrases stole my heart. I also spied the Swell Season poster I shared on Facebook.

Speaking of typography, I am drooling over this gallery of sketch type (via Smashing Magazine). What's not to love?

Talk about organic -- I fell for these wooden cup minis the instant I saw them. The rest of Nature Design's shop's is great and I love this quote from the profile of this Eurpean shop: "...my goal is to take out the item what has been all the time inside the log."

For my Bay Area peeps, how about this cool way to find parking? Thanks Dwell for bringing this to my attention (via Good Magazine).

I liked learning about this blog, TwiTip about how to use Twitter more effectively. Thanks Carolyn for tweeting this find for the rest of us.

Finally, considering that I have come down with a cold this week, I'm loving these stylish Polopolo pocket tissue holders from Yokomono Studio.

edited: I forgot the sweetest link of all! This Times Online roundup today of 50 of the world's best design blogs featuring so many, many, of my faves like #50, #30, #10, #7, of course, #6 and last (but not least) and near & dear to my Portland-loving heart, #28.

Link Love aka Sweet Links

Today I thought I'd share a few things I have enjoyed lately in my web travels.

I can't stop thinking about this cranberry vinaigrette from Erin at fresh365. I am going to have to try making and bottling it soon.

I am enjoying a new blog, Lolalina. I love the name and the look of Laura's blog which is all about "discovering and living your sweet life from small, everyday pleasures to grand adventures."

I love these Photoshop magnets (via Jess at How About Orange). I think they are just so clever and I like them even though they're out of stock.

I loved finding out about the film project Make a World based on Ed Emberley's book. You can watch the teaser like I did and then keep up with them on Twitter and Facebook.

I adore this card from two guitars. Their entire shop is bursting with wonderful things. The Portland art scene is mind boggling to me. Scott ships his work in biodegradable plastic bags, how cool is that? Thanks to Poppytalk for the introduction to this fine artist.

I just found out that I won this amazing Amala giveaway on Bliss. I am in a state of happy shock, this is not normal for me! I can't wait to try their products.

Finally, last night I fell head over heels in love with this photo from Abby. I don't have permission to put it up on the blog yet but if she says yes, I will come back and edit the post. Until then, please do click on it! {Thanks Abby!} It is a very serene image and brings me peace during a tumultuous week with the Noodle. Abby is having a sale right now in her Etsy shop and she is also in Portland. See what I mean? It is non-stop inspiration coming from the PNW. I could do weeks of posts just on art out of PDX.

Okay that's it for now. There is so much holiday talk around the blogosphere, I guess I needed a little diversion even though I enjoy all of that too.
