Spotlight on Emily Rath

You have got to love the internet and the way you can start out on one thing and land up another and bam! Your life has changed for the better. This is what happened to me today and how I discovered Emily Rath.

I fell for her version of "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles, a personal favorite song of mine. I immediately sent it to Jamie who became intrigued and found her MySpace page which contains several original songs.

Here is a link to one of my favorite Emily Rath songs: Hope.
(I cannot seem to upload from YouTube to my blog lately, drat!)

Now let's go buy her demo cd!

Someone Hit Me Over The Head Please

Jack thinks that's why he is so mellow.

According to the Rolling Stone article I'm perusing, "Johnson put down his professional surfing career after an accident at the Pipeline Masters when he was seventeen. 'It humbled me, and it slowed me down,' he says. 'I like to joke that I hit my head so hard that that's why I'm so mellow.'"

I'd Wanna Be The Film

When a movie opens with song lyrics like these, you should know you are in for some movie magic.

Sample of the lyrics from just one of the many cool songs in this movie:

If you were a wink, I'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well I'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug

Thank you for a lovely afternoon Juno. If you were a movie, I'd wanna be the film.

Oh wait! You are a movie!

"Calming" Playlist

In about 37 seconds on Wednesday , I created probably the best playlist in my iTunes career. I created it for Jackson actually because I was off to the realtor meeting to hear the offers we received on our house and I was leaving him in his kennel with the Visualizer on. (Isn't that nice of me, not sure he can even see it from his vantage point).

Turns out it didn't help much, in fact maybe it drove him to break out of his kennel and destroy the house while he purged his Giardia parasite on every available surface! Maybe I should made a Crazy playlist for him instead.

But anyway, I decided to play it for myself right now while I try to catch up on my job.

And my goodness, it is mightly lovely if I do say!

Dylan

Quintessential "Dad" music, Dylan is practically synonymous with my childhood. In fact, for most of my adult life, I would cringe at the sound of his voice because it conjured up such a spectrum of emotions and memories. But sometime after my first round with NHL, I shifted and welcomed his voice into my life. It comforted me for the first time and continues to do so.

Ran across this article on Ticketmaster this morning and was impressed by its length. I learned lots about Dylan; although his songs are deeply familiar, he was my dad's peer and not mine. So his story is not at all familiar to me. But I like to read about him. So I want to share it. Alas, I will only do the link because it is so long -- you'd be scrolling for days in my blog.

My Happy Music Right Now

Oh my gosh, I've been wanting this cd for months now and recently Corinne was on Oprah which just made it imperative for me to get it. Luckily my sweetie gave me an iTunes card in my stocking and it was just waiting to be used.

Now I have my happy music going all the time and I am finally liking the new car stereo that Jeff got me because I can plug in my iPod and blast Put Your Records On.

Even Jeff is hitting repeat on track 3 all the time.

Happiness!
