2020 Desk Calendar

It has become a beloved tradition for me to review my photos and curate a beautiful companion for you in the new year. For the third year in a row, I’m proud to have my calendars printed by a locally owned and operated company who has been printing things in Portland since 1946.

Ahhh, the promise of a new year and the promise of an open road. I officially give you advanced permission to take January to breathe, recover from the holiday whirlwind and rest. It will be the deep of winter after all. It’s almost unnatural to go into a frenzy planning and predicting the next 12 months. I know, I know, it’s counter-cultural! Be a rebel and spend January daydreaming with me instead.

In February, we’ll perk up from cold, grey winter days with these cheerful freesia greeting us on our walls. In March, it’s spring time at last. Now it’s finally time to plant the seeds and ideas we slowed down enough to dream up back in January. This way of living is much more harmonious with nature.

Summer is here, adventure is calling! It’s time for us to go outdoors and run around the beach like we did when we were little. Or we can be our grown up selves with a hike in the forest or a visit to a botanical garden.

Which brings us to the final quarter of the year. September is a transition back to routines, something imprinted on most of us as products of the school system. Fall dazzles us with color and reminders of the gift of letting go. It’s a time to be introspective before the holidays begin again.

Well gosh, I got a little carried away there walking and talking you through all of 2020 here in November of 2019. This is what I do in my mind as I choose the photos every year though. I transport myself to the future and ask myself how do we want to feel? and what do we need to see

The intention that always flows throughout my design process is my hope that a glance at the wall will remind us all to pause, to find our breath, to simply be.

Environmental Note:

In an effort to reduce my business’s impact on our beloved planet, I will not automatically ship my calendars in a single use plastic cello sleeve like I have in years past. Instead, I will wrap the calendar in paper inside of the sturdy kraft mailer. I’m confident this will be protective of your beautiful gift and help me reduce single use plastic. Of course, I’m happy to provide a cello sleeve if you wish.

Shopping with Jessica Nichols Art means your gifts will keep on giving. A percentage of every sale is donated to 4Ocean who is working hard to remove plastic from our beautiful oceans. The ocean is a source of deep inspiration to me and we can work together on this massive problem!
